2016 Palm Springs Leather Pride

Every year, during the week before Palm Springs Pride, the Palm Springs Leather Order of the Desert (PSLOD) holds their own distinct celebration: Palm Springs Leather Pride. It’s a popular event that sees fans of the leather lifestyle converging on our fair city to celebrate their passions. This year, the party takes place October 27-30.

The list of fun events around town includes a Meet & Greet cocktail party; a clothing- optional pool party hosted by Mr. Palm Springs Leather 2016, Christopher Durbin; the formal Leather Dinner; the popular Tool Shed/PSLOD vendor market; and the Back Lot Cruise Party. This is shaping up to be an event no leather enthusiast should miss, and Santiago makes a great home base from which to access the weekend’s activities. And to show off your hot gear!

Saturday’s events include an afternoon Cigar and Gear party, a leather tea dance, the Victory dance party at the Barracks and, of course, the Mr. Palm Springs Leather contest, which will be held at the Palm Springs Air Museum (VIP ticket holders get a complimentary docent tour). On Sunday, you can enjoy the BBQ/pool party with the infamous wet t-shirt contest, and the closing party at the Barracks.

Weekend package and VIP tickets are available. For event details, schedule, hotel and travel info, and to buy tickets, visit desertleatherpride.com. PSLOD is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing a safe atmosphere for growth and support of the leather lifestyle while nourishing a sense of sister/brotherhood and camaraderie within the organization and the community. It also raises funds for deserving projects, clubs, organizations, defense funds or charities which have given direct or indirect support to the leather community or to the GLBT community at large.

What is your go-to restaurant for an evening with friends?

Rooster and the Pig. They have a delicious brussel sprouts starter and the crispy cod is also a favorite.

Where do you enjoy going for a cocktail?

Wang’s on a Friday evening for happy hour. Great house music and drinks to start off the weekend!

What is your preferred late night spot?

Chill bar. It has a modern easiness about it and the bar staff is easy on the eyes. Also, they have a pool table and dart board.

What is your favorite early evening hang out?

The bar at The Tropicale. I can get a martini with blue cheese stuffed olives and some good bar bites. Most times I’ll go alone and run into people I know or end up meeting people I’ve never met before.

What event in Palm Springs do you enjoy?

Dancing Under the Stars event for the Hot Rodeo (usually held in May). Ain’t nothing like an outdoor dance party at night with some handsome cowboys.

What do you think is the best kept secret in Palm Springs?

The kink events and play parties that happen throughout the year.

How do you spend your day of?

What’s a day off? Honestly, when you own your own business it’s your life 24/7.

What is your favorite close-by adventure?

San Diego. It’s only a couple hours drive away; a large variety of restaurants to try out and places to go and see. Balboa Park is gorgeous.

What is your favorite retail shopping experience?

Shopping for lube at Gear. It’s interesting to see all the varieties and you can even get opinions from the clerks. They’re knowledgeable about the products they carry.

What’s your best kept, men’s clothing secret in the valley?

My best kept men’s clothing secret is that you don’t even need to be wearing clothes at any of the men’s resorts. Why not go for it and opt out?

Is there an art gallery or museum that you like to visit regularly?

Elena Bulatova is pretty awesome. I love the outdoor art garden area. The artwork is stimulating.
