Palm Trees at Santiago

The iconic palm tree is an instantly recognizable symbol of oasis living in Palm Springs. The gardens at Santiago feature several varieties of them, including the well-known Mexican Fan Palm. This is the same graceful towering species you’ll see lining the streets of downtown Palm Springs. Growing up to 100 feet tall, these palms seem to reach the stars when viewed from the pool at Santiago in the nighttime sky.

Less familiar, but even more impressive, is the native California Fan Palm. The largest native North American palm, it grows 2-3 feet in diameter and 20-60 feet tall. You’ll find these thick palms lining the outdoor staircases at Santiago. For a view of these majestic trees in their natural habitat, hike into any of the Indian Canyons near Santiago.
